What Should I Know Before I Come?
What to Bring
If you have a younger preschooler, you will want to bring whatever personal care items your child might need. Please label your child’s bottle, pacifier and diaper bag. We request that you include disposable diapers. If your child is in training pants, please send extra pants and a change of clothes in case they are needed. Be sure these are labeled.
What NOT to Bring
Since we offer a complete curriculum with all necessary toys and materials, your child should NOT bring any toys into the classroom.
What Should My Child Wear?
Because preschoolers love to run, jump and play, we suggest you dress your child in comfortable, loose-fitting, machine-washable clothing. This will allow them to enjoy unrestricted movement. It is usually best not to dress boys in suits and ties or girls in stiff dresses with lots of frills and lace.
Preschoolers beginning to learn how to use the bathroom need to bring an extra change of clothing in a labeled bag. Please provide clothing that is easy to take off and put on.
Sick Children
Children with above-normal temperature, colds, a persistent cough, rash or any contagious disease should not be brought to the preschool areas as infection of others may occur. Parents must be sure that their children have been free from signs of illness for 24 hours before bringing them. If a child becomes ill while in the preschool area, the parent/guardian will be requested to come to the Preschool area to pick up their child. Teachers do not administer medications.
Where Do We Go?
Sunday Morning
Classes for children in Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten are located on the first floor of E-Wing. Preschoolers age birth through 3 (or not yet in Pre-Kindergarten) are in D-Wing. A friendly person at the reception desk in each wing will assist you in getting your child checked in and to the appropriate classroom.
Sunday Evening
All childcare is provided in E-Wing on Sunday evening. Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten children attend the evening Worship Service with their parents.
Wednesday Evening
All programs and activities for preschoolers take place in E-Wing. There will be someone at the reception desk who will help you get your child checked in and in the proper classroom.
How Will You Keep My Child Safe?
Each time you bring your child to the Preschool area, you will check them in at the reception desk. There you will be given two security stickers. One sticker is placed on y our child’s clothing or diaper bag. You will keep the matching sticker to return to the classroom teacher when you pick up your child. The teacher will match your sticker with your child’s. Children are released only to the adult who presents the matching sticker. Only ADULTS are allowed to pick up preschoolers. When you get to the classroom, PLEASE KNOCK AND WAIT FOR A TEACHER TO COME TO THE DOOR. Please do not enter the classroom. This creates confusion and a child could easily slip out an open door.
